What is Sepak Takraw and how did it start in the Comox Valley?
Sepak Takraw translates to ‘kick’ ‘ball’ and over 12 years ago a former Comox Valley resident named David Lecovin discovered the sport being played on a trip to Thailand. In southeast Asia it is played at all levels much like hockey is played here in Canada both professionally and in driveways. It is the national sport of both Malaysia and Thailand. In Myanmar it is also their national sport but it’s referred to as Chinlone and said to be more than 1500 years old. In the Philippines it is taught as part of the school curriculum. Yet in Canada it’s almost completely unknown.

About Us
We play social, mildly-competitive Sepak Takraw in the Comox Valley. We’ve been doing it for more than a decade, building new skills and lifelong friendships while having a whole lot of fun.
The best way to learn more is to join us on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9pm at Puntledge Elementary (or out on the fields of Lake Trail during summertime).
